Robyn O’Neil was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1977, and grew up in Central Texas. She received a BFA from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2001. In 1999, she was awarded a DeGolyer Grant from the Dallas Museum of Art (awarded to promising artists under the age of 25). In 2003 she was included in the group exhibition, Come Forward: Emerging Art in Texas, at the Dallas Museum of Art. That same year, she was the recipient of The Artadia Award, supporting emerging artists of the region. A 2003 Artpace residency culminated in the production of O’Neil’s first large-scale multi-panel drawing, which was included in the 2004 Biennial Exhibition, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, and in galleries in Amsterdam, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Paris, and San Francisco. Her recent drawings will be the subject of a solo museum show at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, in 2006, curated by Senior Curator, Lynn Herbert. The exhibition is scheduled to travel to three venues throughout 2006. O’Neil currently lives and works in Houston and is represented by Inman Gallery, Houston and Clementine Gallery, New York.
