Eileen Maxson drowns in white walls and cable television, emerging on occasion to press record. Born in 1980 in Rockville Centre, New York, Eileen received her BFA in Photography and Digital Media from The University of Houston in 2002. She lives and works in Houston, Texas. Her selected screenings and exhibitions include the New York Underground Film Festival, New York; Cinematheque Ontario, Toronto; Aurora Picture Show, Houston; Portland Documentary and Experimental Film Festival, Portland, Oregon; The Dallas Museum of Art; DiverseWorks, Houston; and Cinematexas International Film Festival, Austin. In 2003, Maxson was named in the Village Voice’s annual review ‘The Year in Experimental Film and Video’. In 2004, her first installation and solo exhibition Distance Education was exhibited at Cactus Bra Space in San Antonio. She is the recipient of grants from The Artadia Award, The Dallas Museum of Art, the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County, and the Austin Film Society. In the fall of 2005, Eileen Maxson will show at Deitch Art Projects with the New York Underground Film Festival.
