youth education

Arthouse welcomes Austin-area teens to participate in our FREE intensive art education programs. Arthouse is one of the few Central Texas museums to offer education programs tailored to reach out and nourish the arts among high school students. Check out our different programs and workshops below!

For information on all of our education programs, please contact Erin Gentry, Education Coordinator, at 512-453-5312.

Club Arthouse is a free, intensive program for Austin-area high school students allowing them to delve deeper into contemporary art one afternoon each week. Meetings are held on Tuesdays, 5:00-7:00pm.

Young Artists @ Arthouse, a free Saturday afternoon program, focuses on students living in East and Southeast Austin. Students work directly with a portfolio advisor, do hands-on workshops with local artists, learn about college art programs, and get the chance to exhibit their work at the end-of-year Young Artists @ Arthouse exhibition.

Ahead of Their Time & Art Bash
Ahead of Their Time, an annual exhibition of art made by high school students enrolled in advanced art courses, allows the public to enjoy the accomplishments of young Austin-area artists. These young artists truly are "Ahead of Their Time."

During Ahead of Their Time, Arthouse hosts Art Bash, a showcase for teen musicians. This event is organized by teens and for teens, and is free for all to enjoy during the exhibition.

Tours
Arthouse offers free tours of our exhibitions for students of all ages. Tours can be customized to meet the needs of your group and can include group discussions, drawing activities, and writing activities.

Teacher Workshops
Arthouse offers teachers opportunities to continue their education through hands-on teacher workshops, lecturer series, and special screenings. Arthouse is certified to provide Continuing Professional Education credit for its workshops.
