Ten Pounds To The Sound is happy to present Norwegian double bass player Ingebrigt Haaker Flaten. Back in Austin after an incredible performance last month for Ruby’s BBQ 20th Anniversary with his trio The Thing, Ingebrigt is bringing together a quartet of musicians from Austin, Houston and New York City (Chris Cogburn, Dave Dove and Jawwaad Taylor, respectively). The quartet performed for the first time last month in Houston and has been eager to meet again, as the ensemble proves to be an unusual mix of artistic disciplines and expressions – a rare balance of fire and timbre, the semantic and the rhythmic.
The night begins with a special solo performance by Austin’s own Jon Doyle. Known and appreciated for his full, rich tone and the ability to build unbelievably sweet and moving solos in more traditional contexts, Doyle is presented here in his own context to freely take his music where ever it may desire.
Should be a really exciting show! Support creative music in Austin! See you there!
