Arthouse and artist Jason Middlebrook are rapidly preparing for what promises to be an incredible first exhibition in our NEW (and MASSIVE) second floor gallery space. The exhibition itself – More Art About Buildings And Food – will be the New York-based sculptor’s first solo-exhibition at Arthouse, and, as the title suggests, it’s all about buildings and food!
Here’s where you come in:
Remember your grandmother’s famous thanksgiving gravy? Your father’s BBQ ribs? Food is so often at the center of our ideas of family and the community, and as Middlebrook prepares to exhibit new work in Central Texas, he asks for submissions of family recipes along with (optional) context for when the food was generally prepared, who for, and how the recipe came to you. Middlebrook will incorporate aspects of contributed recipes into the creation of a massive wall drawing, and feature a selected number in a communal potluck dinner held at Arthouse on Saturday, November 20, 2010. This exhibition is built on public participation and your most cherished family recipes are critical to its success.
HOW TO SUBMIT*

ABOUT JASON MIDDLEBROOK
Jason Middlebrook was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1966 and lives and works in Hudson, New York. His work, which has been shown extensively in the United States and Europe, typically features found and recycled everyday materials that are redeployed to reveal practices of overconsumption and the points at which culture and nature collide.
Next Saturday, June 26, 2010, Jason Middlebrook will be featured in the exhibition Alexander Calder and Contemporary Art: Form, Balance and Joy at MCA Chicago.
